Electrical design subcontractor for Pioneer Technical Services to provide the power and communications system designs to de-water an estimated 2-billion gallon pit to allow for continuation of mining activities by Thompson Creek Mine. This unique project involves development of the power infrastructure to allow for a floating barge utilizing two 600-HP turbines to pump water from the pit location to a pump house where it can be transferred and utilized for mineral processing. Project includes the expansion and renovation of the existing outdated communications network to allow for reliable data transfer across the project site. Work involves expansion of the site overhead medium voltage electrical distribution, design of multiple substations to support the dewatering process, grounding and lightning protection design, coordination and implementation of control systems, and provision of floating electrical distribution over water to the barge turbine system.
